BWS International Women's Day Celebration - 2026


An Evening of Grace, Recognition & Togetherness

Celebrated on Sunday, 29 March 2026

Bangalore Warrier Samajam marked International Women’s Day with a beautifully curated celebration that brought together members of the community in a spirit of appreciation, empowerment, and cultural pride. The event was a perfect blend of heartfelt recognition, inspiring moments, and vibrant performances.


A Thoughtful Beginning


The evening commenced with a warm and gracious welcome, as all women attendees were greeted with a rose and a small gift — symbolizing appreciation and respect. Committee members were present at the entrance to warmly welcome everyone and assist with attendance, ensuring a smooth and organized start to the event. A delightful high tea followed, setting the tone for an evening of connection and celebration.

The esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Gayathri Vasudevan, was received with great warmth by Smt. Prabha Vijayan, Smt. Rajashree Warrier, Smt. Vatsala Balachandran Warrier, Mr. Gopakumar P. T., and Mr. M. V. Vijayan.


About the Chief Guest



Dr. Gayathri Vasudevan, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LabourNet, is a renowned social entrepreneur and development professional working towards livelihood generation, employability, and women’s empowerment. Recognized among Business Today’s Top 50 Women in Business (2017) and awarded Entrepreneur of the Year – Social Business Category by Forbes India (2018), she has significantly contributed to inclusive economic development. With a Doctorate in Development Studies and prior experience with the International Labour Organization (ILO), she has impacted nearly a million lives through her work in education, employability, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

 

Ceremonial Inauguration


The formal program began with an engaging welcome by the Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Rohinkumar R.

The traditional invocation and lamp-lighting ceremony was conducted by Dr. Gayathri Vasudevan, Chief Guest; Mr. M. V. Vijayan, President; and Mr. Gopakumar P. T., Secretary, along with the committee members, marking an auspicious and dignified commencement of the celebrations.


Inspiring Leadership & Recognition


The Chief Guest was formally introduced by Smt. Rakhi Warrier and felicitated by the President and Secretary as a mark of deep respect.


The audience was then addressed by the President, Secretary, and the Chief Guest, whose insightful speeches emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, resilience, and community strength.


Celebrating Talent: Cultural Showcase


The stage came alive with a series of captivating performances that highlighted the artistic talents:

  • A melodious Kannada song by Mr. Krishna Kumar T. S., followed by the presentation of a token of appreciation by Smt. Prabha Vijayan.

  • A graceful Odissi performance by Mrs. Nikisha A. K., with a token of appreciation presented by Smt. Vatsala Balachandran Warrier.

  • A classical Bharatanatyam recital by Mrs. Neelima Keeran Venugopal, followed by the presentation of a token of appreciation by Smt. Devi P. 

  • An energetic semi-classical dance performance by Ms. Krishnapriya, with a token of appreciation presented by her grandmother, Smt. Karthyayani.


A delightful surprise performance by Mrs. Nikisha’s students added vibrancy and excitement to the evening. The group included Rema, Adithyan, Preethi Radhakrishnan, Rajashree, Rajan Warrier, Radha Warrier, Rakhi Warrier, and Mr. Gopakumar P. T.

Following this, Smt. Rajashree Warrier introduced Mrs. Nikisha A. K., appreciating her role as the BWS fitness and dance trainer and encouraging members to actively participate in her fitness sessions, reinforcing the importance of health and well-being.


Honouring Excellence


The Women Achievers segment stood out as a meaningful and inspiring part of the evening. The profiles, achievements, and valuable contributions of each awardee were thoughtfully read aloud by committee members, allowing the audience to gain insight into their journeys and accomplishments. As a mark of appreciation for their inspiring contributions, each achiever was honored with a cash award of ₹5,000 presented by the Chief Guest.

  • Smt. Usha TV – Healthcare, introduced by Smt. Rajashree Warrier.

  • Smt. Rema Pisharody – Leadership, introduced by Smt. Vatsala Balachandran Warrier.

  • Dr. Uma Warrier – Healthcare, introduced by Smt. Rajashree Warrier.

Each awardee shared their journey and expressed gratitude, inspiring the audience with their experiences and achievements.


Gratitude & Celebration


The formal segment concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Balasree Shivaprasad, acknowledging the contributions of the Chief Guest, organizers, participants, and volunteers.


The celebration then continued with a lively and engaging game session led by enthusiastic participants — Radhika Radhakrishnan, Anjali, Poorvi, Soumya, and Bindu — bringing joy and laughter to the gathering. Tokens of appreciation were subsequently presented by Smt. Rakhi Warrier in recognition of their spirited involvement.


Memorable Finale


The event concluded with a group photograph session, capturing the spirit of unity and joy among all the women present, followed by the National Anthem, bringing the celebrations to a proud and patriotic close. The evening ended with dinner, leaving behind cherished memories of togetherness and celebration.


BWS Event Coordinators

The successful execution of the celebration was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the BWS Event Coordinators — Mr. Gopakumar P. T., Mr. Baiju C. V., and Smt. Rakhi Warrier. Their meticulous planning, coordination, and teamwork ensured the smooth conduct of the program, creating a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.
