Varnam 2026 – Harithadhwani
"A Celebration of Tradition, Talent & Togetherness"
On 20 September 2026, Bangalore Warrier Samajam (BWS) came together to celebrate Varnam 2026, a vibrant day filled with tradition, culture, talent and community spirit. With Shri Ravi Kiran as the Convener, this year’s celebration took shape around the theme “HarithaDhwani”, brought alive by the collective efforts of a dedicated team of volunteers.
A Festive Morning
The celebrations began in the morning with a series of interesting and engaging competitions for members across different age groups. Along with the traditional Malakettal competition, this year saw several new and fun-filled competitions that encouraged enthusiastic participation across generations.
A breakfast was served for the members, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the morning.
Following the competitions, the formal celebrations began with the arrival of Mahabali accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Mellam, setting the perfect festive mood for the day.
Inauguration and Remembrance
-
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed, with Shri O.G. Vijaya Shankar and members of the Executive Committee joining in to mark the formal inauguration of the celebrations.
The gathering then observed a solemn moment of remembrance as Joint Secretary Shri Nandakumar Warrier read out the condolence list of BWS members who had passed away during the year. The community paid its respects and remembered the departed souls with affection and reverence.
This was followed by the welcome address by BWS President Shri M.V. Vijayan, who welcomed the members and set the tone for a day of celebration and togetherness.
A special tribute was then presented by Shri Baiju C.V. in memory of Late Shri K. Suresh Warrier, founder of Warriers.org, whose contribution and presence were fondly remembered by the community.
Honouring Our Seniors
One of the cherished traditions of Varnam is recognising the elders of our community. This year, seniors in the 90+, 84-year and 70-year age groups were felicitated as a mark of love, respect and gratitude.
Celebrating Talent Across Generations
The cultural programmes began with delightful performances by the children, followed by a colourful variety of cultural programmes showcasing the talent and creativity of BWS members.
During the programme, BWS Secretary Shri Gopakumar P.T. addressed the gathering and spoke about the BWS Serenity Project, the first project of its kind undertaken by BWS. He invited members to be part of this important initiative and contribute to its journey.
The cultural programmes continued, building up to one of the most eagerly awaited highlights of the day - the Mega Thiruvathira.
Mega Thiruvathira – A Grand Celebration
The Mega Thiruvathira brought together a large group of enthusiastic participants and filled the venue with the grace and beauty of this traditional dance form.
The performance was warmly appreciated by everyone. As a special gesture of appreciation, Smt. Rajashree Warrier presented set mundu as participation mementos to all the participants.
Onam Sadhya & Vadam Valli
The much-awaited Onam Sadhya was then announced, bringing members together to enjoy a traditional festive feast.
While members were enjoying the Sadhya, the venue continued to buzz with excitement as the Vadam Valli and other fun-filled activities were conducted by the Masters of Ceremony. Vadam Valli turned out to be one of the most enjoyable highlights of the day, with members enthusiastically taking part and cheering one another on.
The combination of the traditional Sadhya and lively activities created a wonderfully relaxed and festive atmosphere.
Celebrating Talent Across Generations, Felicitations and Recognition
After the Sadhya, the cultural programmes resumed, followed by a series of felicitations and recognitions.
The Executive Committee members and Sponsors were felicitated in appreciation of their valuable support and contribution towards Varnam 2026. Smt. Suja Warrier was specially acknowledged for her initiative in bringing together the Mega Thiruvathira.
The Education Awards were then presented, followed by prizes for the winners of the various competitions.
The dedicated efforts of the Event Coordinators, Shri Baiju C.V. and Smt. Rakhi Warrier, were also recognised. As the Event Coordinators, they had worked throughout the year with dedication and commitment, playing an important role in coordinating and supporting the various BWS events and activities.
The Team Behind Varnam 2026
A special moment came when Varnam Convener Shri Ravi Kiran was felicitated for his dedication and leadership in bringing the celebration together.
In a wonderful reflection of the team spirit behind Varnam, Shri Ravi Kiran invited his entire organising and volunteer team onto the stage to share the felicitation with him. Their collective effort, enthusiasm and commitment gave shape to the vision of HarithaDhwani and played an important role in making Varnam 2026 a memorable celebration.
A Celebration Made Possible by the Community
Varnam 2026 was the result of the collective efforts of the Executive Committee, the Convener and his volunteer team, Event Coordinators, Sponsors, performers, participants and the BWS membership as a whole.
Every contribution, whether through planning, volunteering, participation, sponsorship or support behind the scenes, added to the success of the celebration.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Joint Secretary Shri Nandakumar Warrier, followed by the National Anthem and High Tea.
HarithaDhwani – More Than a Theme
Varnam 2026 will be remembered not only for its colourful programmes and festivities, but also for the sense of community, participation and togetherness that ran through the entire celebration.
From the morning competitions and the arrival of Mahabali to the Mega Thiruvathira, from honouring our seniors to celebrating our children, and from the warmth of the Onam Sadhya to the excitement of Vadam Valli, every moment added a unique colour to the celebration.
HarithaDhwani was more than just the theme of Varnam 2026 - it became a reflection of the vibrant spirit of BWS.
Bangalore Warrier Samajam sincerely thanks everyone who contributed to, participated in and supported Varnam 2026 and helped make it a memorable celebration of tradition, talent, friendship and togetherness.
